The superb, signed photo features an early career image of Wayne Gretzky. It is a terrific photo with an early Gretzky signature, PSA authenticated and encapsulated. Wayne Gretzky started his professional career when he signed with the Indianapolis Racers of the WHA for the 1978-79 season. He would play just 8 games for the Racers before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers where he played the remaining 72 games of the season that saw him win the WHA Rookie of the Year. This image captures Gretzky at the tail end of that season, and the superb image is credited to well-known hockey photographer, Bruce Bennett.

Note: Gretzky likely would have won the NHL Rookie of the Year for the 1979-80 season but was deemed ineligible for the award after playing the 1978-79 season in the WHA which was also regarded as a professional league. The NHL Calder Trophy went to Ray Bourque for the 1979-80 season. Note: This item recently arrived back to me from PSA. The photo and the holder have no glares. They are both in new condition.
